Who We Are

Our Story & Heritage

Oryza Pros: 5th Generation Malagasy Farmers

We are a dedicated network of agricultural families working the fertile soils of Madagascar. Deeply rooted in our ancestral lands, our farming legacy stretches back five generations, combining inherited wisdom with modern agricultural responsibility.

We believe that agriculture should empower those who tend the soil. By providing modern tools, organic agricultural training, and fair market access, we ensure that Malagasy farmers receive the compensation and respect they deserve while supplying premium grains to local communities and global tables.

Oryza Pros' Mission

"We see rice as more than a crop—it’s a way of bringing people together. Every meal shared is a reminder of the bond between farmers and families, and our mission serves to strengthen that connection by ensuring every grain we grow carries the story of care, community, and sustainability."

Our Vision

Oryza Pros, a farmer-owned company, is the best choice for Malagasy farmers seeking a strong partner for their business profitability and agricultural impact.

Our vision reaches beyond fields and farms. We believe that farmers are stronger together. We protect their heritage by standing alongside our members while creating new opportunities.

Preserving Traditional Farming Methods

In Madagascar, rice (vary) cultivation is not just an industry—it is a sacred way of life passed down through generations. We honor these time-tested traditions.

The Angady

The angady is a traditional long-handled narrow iron spade. It has been used for centuries by highland farmers to hand-turn heavy clay soils on steep hillsides where machinery or draft animals cannot reach, demonstrating the deep physical devotion to the land.

Zebu Trampling

Before transplanting seedlings, herds of zebu (crested cattle) are traditionally driven through the flooded paddies. Their hooves break up hard clay clumps and churn the soil into a perfect mud consistency, conditioning it naturally without mechanical compaction.

Fokonolona & Fihavanana

Community spirit is central to the harvest. Under the custom of Fihavanana (mutual solidarity), members of the local Fokonolona (village community) work cooperatively to maintain complex irrigation systems and take turns harvesting each other's fields.
